Skid Steer Smackdown Season Two – The Prove It Tour!
Why is The Ultimate Skid Steer Smackdown’s Season 2 called The Prove It Tour?
Didn’t we already show that John Deere skid steers are the best in the land?
Because we read words like “staged” and remarks such as “Of course they’re winning, all the operators are from Deere.”
So in Season 2 we’re taking the battles – and the action – to YOU. You might even be able to get in the seat when the tour rolls into a Deere dealership, a tradeshow or your own jobsite.
No matter where Smackdown brings down the thunder, you’ll see it all in the Episodes section and be able to blog about it right here with other skid steer fans… and judge for yourself.
Comments? Bring ‘em on!

Isn’t that what John Deere is about? Making competitors pick themselves up, and wonder, “Why did I challenge them?”
Is there a schedule of when the Smackdown will be where and when?
hey… good ideas keep the movies coming
I think you should extend the interactivity to other areas, such as providing an area where a guy can request features and comment on areas that need improvement
caterpiller is still the best
Come to the Hudson Valley Beacon Nortrax so I could beat all these people (BRING IT!). Not only on Skid Steers, on ANYTHING! DEERE RULES!
Caterpillar is the best? DEERE will blow cat all over.
JOHN DEERE IS THE BOMB!!!
I rent Cat though. r the controls on Deere like bobcat, caterpillar, or somthing else?
CAT CONTROLS RULE
u should run a cat 312 +304 excavators
257 skid MINT
john deere rules but this stuff is rigged they take out the ones JD loses.
Hey Boys! Who did JD buy skidloaders from for years? What style skidloader did JD copy? New Holland — and they’re still the best in class
I like john deere skidsteers. if one comes close to my town i’ll go; they need more battles to keep it interesting.
In the hill climb why did you not show when you went up against the CAT 242B2? [Moderator's comment: The actual match-up would have been with the Cat 232B Series 2, which despite our efforts, we simply could not secure in time for this live event. Cat models WILL appear in subsequent battles in Bowling Green.] It is most likely because it is faster and has the same departure angle (aka tipping angle). I think that you guys should show all the competitors, even when you lose? [Moderator's comment: There's still plenty of events, and even a few surprises, to come from Bowling Green. Stay tuned.]
Who did JD quit buying skid steers from? What style machine did they improve upon and update with the 200’s, 200 series II, 300’s and the rumored all new machines coming sometime in the not too distant future? Same answer as you – New Holland. Still stuck in the 1980’s.
hi guys do any of u think this is rigged? there must be pre-testing prior to the actual show so they already know the results that john deere is going to win. how can one machine own the entire competition? they only lost 1st in one event – the visibility test to new holland.
I don’t think there is any pre-testing, I just think Deere compared the specs just like everyone else does. CAT lovers are always going to say theirs are the best because they simply paid the most for their machines. I would want to say that too if I paid over $5000 too much for a machine.
you need to test a Gehl 7810E it would be the best
“you need to test a Gehl 7810E it would be the best”
If I needed a skid loader the size of a payloader, I’d probably, well, ….. buy a payloader.
I know a couple of guys that have tried that tank over the years, but would never trade for a second one. Riddled with ongoing problems, aside from being extremely cumbersome.
Congratulations Deere! You think you have the best skid steer. What an accomplishment!!! Too bad it’s rigged, and so obvious. I would be embarrassed to show such lame videos. And what a poor excuse that you couldn’t “secure” a CAT for the hill climb competition. Just about any rental house on the corner has that in stock. But, hey, if you’re happy with beefing up a New Holland and calling it your own and bragging that it’s the best, then that’s your place. Maybe you should spend some time working on the real equipment, like dozers, excavators, and trucks. Good Luck.
I will say this much about things being rigged. Of course they tested all this out in advance. What do you think they do with millions of dollars for research and development. They own every single model of every machine out there. They still prove some interesting points about lifting strength and visibility. People hate to admit that there might be a machine out there better than the one they bought. And there always will be.
I am interested to see how the joystick controls are in the Deere 332 and why don’t they offer joysticks (CAT type pilot control) in the smaller ones? That is where CAT and others can easily one up them. Nobody wants to run manual controls or pedals anymore.
As the owner of a 2009 320, I couldn’t agree with you more, s-moe. The manual controls in the smaller deere loaders are extremely hard to operate and jerky.
There have been a couple events that New Holland wins so at least its not totally rigged. I would like to see more competitions based off real life stuff. Like digging and ripping up asphalt or concrete
New Holland? Get over it. How many years are people going to hang onto this “oh, Deere is just an old New Holland…” It’s 2009. Stop already.
Marketing at its best! I am disapointed with how blatantly obvious the disadvantages that were given to the competitive models during the events. I saw at least two competitive models not fully engage the pallet which would have placed the center of gravity much further from the machine. I got another good laugh on the hill climb…just watch the bucket positions as they climb “Mount Skidmore”. Seriously disapointed that the Cat was not also included…probably for good reason. I suggest you have some of the folks you awarded in the operators competion run all the machines in all of the events to get a more realistic perspective on performance, then again if you did that you would probably be looking for new jobs. All in all, mission accomplished!
[MODERATOR'S COMMENT: All the machines in Bowling Green were operated by local operators who run the same brand of skid steers in their daily work as they did at our Skid Steer Smackdown event. The Case operator didn’t position the block against the pallet stop, but this Case model will not lift the weight regardless of block positioning in our machine evaluations. The New Holland operator does place the block against the backstop on his third lift attempt on the video.]
i want to give congrats to John Deere for their showing at these events, and i well be the first to admit they have great specs, HOWEVER i do have a major problem with quality. The JD skidsteers may out preform my Cases, BUT, my Cases don’t break down half as much as the JD’s in my area, people may say Cases are outdated, but why mess with a track record like Case has.
